From the Principal
Welcome to ICSV!
I hope you are as excited about ICSV as I am to serve as Principal of the High School and IB Coordinator. When I came and visited for the first time, I was blown away by the uniqueness of ICSV and the students and staff that are here. It is truly a diverse group of people with talents and interests that make the school an amazing place to learn.
ICSV offers an authentic learning experience that goes well beyond an excellent education. Students are challenged to be critical thinkers and to develop their character on a daily basis. Students build relationships with each other and the staff that are intentional. Come see for yourself why my family and I are so excited to be part of the ICSV community!
At ICSV there are many opportunities inside and outside the classroom for connection and growth. At ICSV you can participate in drama and musical productions, show choir and honor choir, science fairs and fundraising projects, and volunteer opportunities like the UN Women’s Bazaar. You can also raise money for local charities like Traiskirchen, play sports, travel to Romania to volunteer at an orphanage and home for single mothers, be taught to lead through the Student Leadership Conference, and then be given an opportunity to lead through the Student Union.
You will have the opportunity for challenging academics that prepare you for university almost anywhere in the world. Our graduates have gone on to study in Canada and the US, Europe and the UK, Japan, South America, Africa, Australia and Indonesia. I hope you will let ICSV open doors for you, as well.
While preparation for university is important, preparation for life is essential. This is why at the heart of all we do is building character, and at the heart of building character is the Good News of Jesus Christ. Our faith is at the heart of who we are and how we treat one another. Virtues like kindness, generosity, integrity, and honesty are found in our staff and encouraged in our students.
I hope you are able to see what a special place ICSV is. I invite you to be a part of our unique community. Stop by sometime, and let us introduce you to ICSV.
Ben Hummel, M.A.
High School Principal and IB Coordinator
ICSV high school students express their joy at meeting people from all over the world and getting to know them as friends. They can articulate the benefits of learning in an environment with people from different nations, races, and religions. While here they become knowledgeable and caring members of a global society. ICSV students are the future leaders of the world.
The academic program at ICSV is designed to prepare students for further study at the university level with college-preparatory courses and the IB Diploma Program offered at the high school level. Graduates of ICSV receive a United States diploma, acknowledged by universities in the United States, Austria, and abroad. Students who complete the two-year IB Diploma Program also receive an IB diploma.
ICSV high school classes are a place where classmates are friends and the community feels like family. Class sizes are small, so students enjoy individualized attention. Students find the classroom a nurturing, yet challenging academic environment. Teachers reach out to their students, desiring to help them to reach their true potential.
While preparation for university is important, preparation for life is essential. This is why at the heart of the high school program is the building of character. Students are taught to respect individual differences while learning from teachers who model a biblical worldview. One’s faith is at the heart of who one is and how others are treated. Virtues like kindness, generosity, integrity, and honesty are found in ICSV staff and encouraged in the students.
